The Rose gets 4 stars from me! The hubs, myself, my sister, her hubs and the baby all drove up to CO from PHX to visit my dad and step mom for Thanksgiving! We tried to find a place for breakfast on the Friday after Turkey day and most places were closed, but thankfully not the Rose! Our service was fast and friendly! The refills flowed freely. I ordered the special of the day which was the corned beef hash...and WOW! I thought the only person on earth that could make a mean corned beef hash was my uncle in Ohio, but the Rose knows how to throw down! Give em a shot if you ever find yourself in Pagosa Springs! I hear the pie is excellent!

In Pagosa Springs? This is the place to have breakfast. Get here early because the line goes Westward, down the street.

My visit to The Rose was a solid three star experience, I generally really liked it, and I plan to return the next time I'm in Pagosa Springs, because the place delivers a huge breakfast and lunch selection that's reasonably priced and efficiently served. If you're debating where you should eat, check out The Rose. You won't be disappointed. Well, unless you're a New Mexican. The itch I need to scratch hails from Denver Mayor Michael Hancock who, in January of 2014, wagered a Bronco Superbowl win on the following: handmade skis, a hoodie and a sampling of Denver's "amazing green chile." New Mexico flew into a tizzy. Ya see, collectively, we don't have a lot to wager. Don't got no professional football or baseball or hockey team, no downtown light rail, don't got many of them Rocky Mountains, don't got watery beer or Denver omelettes. Don't even got legal pot. But we do have our own dopamine, chock full 'o vitamin C: green chile. In our tiny corner of the Southwest, this lil' pepper is worshipped beyond any shrine for John Elway, and we expect followers to represent. The Rose is a good example of why, when it comes to sacred spice, Colorado does not represent. The pool of green chile-esque sauce that smothered my double cheeseburger was a joke. No flavor, no heat, nada. Note, from the picture, that I actually ordered a smattering of canned jalapenos to kick up the ordeal, and after a few bites, I knew I'd made the right decision. Considering it was a Monday, The Rose was packed and understaffed, and it took a while to get seated, order and get the check. But when you're hanging in Pagosa you shouldn't be in a hurry, and I liked the waitress, who was overwhelmed and generally kicked ass. The Pagosa Toast kinda lacked, too. But anyway, I'll give it another shot someday, and I'll leave my snooty attitude about chile at the door. And for the record, Denver lost that game.

Great job redecorating, Robert Irvine! The food is dreadful though. Soggy greasy biscuits, undercooked hash browns, burnt pancakes, etc. the good news: decent french toast and bacon. The end.

Nice rustic family style diner in a small town. Out of the meals ordered by the four of us, the Mexican style breakfast was the best: it comes with two eggs any sptyle, diced potato with onion and green peppers, topped with just the right amount of melted cheese, plus two large tortillas. It was unique, tasty and not greasy. The breakfast BLT was also good if you like it with lots of lettuce and tomato and just a little bit of bacon. The waffle with strawberry was nice but not exceptional. The quiche of the day was spinach, cheese and mushroom quiche. It was the biggest disappointment of our visit. The filling was very bland so I had to keep pouring hot sauce on it and the crust was soft. The coffee was extremely weak, like flavored water. Service was attentive but it took some time for the food to arrive. Overall not a bad place for a small town but not exceptional and we will probably try somewhere else before going back.

We loved this little place! Great, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. We got the Pagosa Toast (french toast dipped in pancake batter) and it was VERY tasty, but could have been cooked longer. :( The pancake batter was still gooey in a few places. On the other hand, the hashbrowns were super chewy, like they had been sitting in the pan too long on low. But for a cute little breakfast place, with good prices, and friendly, quick service, I really liked it.

Small breakfast place in downtown Pagosa Springs. Very good food, good service and don't leave without trying the Pagosa Toast!

My family of 4 were very appreciative that The Rose was serving breakfast Christmas morning! The service, by only one waitress (from Copperas Cove TX) serving the full restaurant, was phenomenal! Fast, efficient, super friendly. There was no wait for beverages or condiments or the wonderful breakfast. We were all happy with the flavors and huge portions. The large menu had American style breakfast but we all selected Mexican style egg dishes. $32 for a full breakfast for 4 in a resort town, awesome!
